The Deepwater Bride & Other Short Stories, by Tamsyn Muir
This collection is based off of the short story The Deepwater Bride by Tamsyn Muir. The story follows Hester Blake in her small hometown as she works to uncover the meaning behind unsettling omens from the deep sea that begin to surface in her hometown. The goal of this collection was to capture the dark and mysterious nature of the deep sea.
The Caterpillar's Secret
This dummy book was created for my Children’s Book Illustration class. The assignment was to develop a complete picture book concept—including story, pacing, and visuals—and present it as a professional pitch. My story is inspired by a childhood memory of raising caterpillars in jars with my siblings.
Adummy book is a mock-up version of a picture book that combines rough thumbnail sketches with select finished illustrations. It’s used to plan the narrative flow, page turns, and visual rhythm before moving into full production.
The Great Divide, by Cristina Henríquez
This collection is based off of the historical fiction novel The Great Divide by Cristina Henríquez. The story follows several characters and their involvement in, or opposition to, the construction of the Panama Canal. The goal of this collection was to show the natural beauty of Panama and depict how the characters go about their day-to-day lives.
